The single most important step of our engagement process is the confidential intake form. While filling out forms isn’t fun, we’ve heard from clients that it pales in comparison to the emotional burden of having to tell a painful story over and over again, risking the omission of details each time. Since our staff collaborate on each case, having your story – in your words – is crucial for us to be able to prepare for your initial consultation. Within 48 hours, we will reach out to you to either schedule your initial consultation, or to introduce you to a trusted referral who can support your case.

Though it is not guaranteed, if a consult is scheduled, there is an upwards of 90% chance the firm will take you on as a client, The firm charges a consult fee in large part for the client to demonstrate their seriousness and investment as a partner in potential litigation. This fee covers not only the hour-long meeting with an attorney to initiate your case, but it also includes the attorney’s time spent studying your intake form, developing follow up questions, and preparing initial recommendations and strategies before the consult even begins.

Within 48 hours of your consultation, we will have a Letter of Representation (LOR) out the door to your employer. Rather than start fires, the goal of this correspondence is to start a conversation that leads to a negotiation call. Starting off with a delicate touch – and waiting to drop the hammer until we need to – is critical in enhancing the likelihood of favorable severance negotiations.

Do you handle cases outside of North Carolina?

Although we are currently only licensed in North Carolina as long as you live(d) and/or work(ed) in North Carolina we should still be able to assist you, however we always recommend filling out the Intake Form to confirm.

Do you handle other areas of law besides Labor/Employment?

No, but ask us for a referral and we would be glad to share one of our capable colleagues' information.

Is there a statute of limitations on my case?

To file an EEOC charge, you have 180 days. To file a lawsuit you have 3 years.

How long until I hear back from someone?

Typically we try and respond within 1-2 business days however sometimes due to workload a response can take up to a week. We recommend giving us a call if you are working on a tight deadline.

Do you offer free consultations?

Our consultations are fee based, however we do offer our complimentary attorney review of every Intake Form that is submitted.
